This painting belongs to an exhibition that I never had. A well known local gallery was going to make me a personal exhibit. The paintings were ready to be mounted on cardboard and framed when the gallery suddenly closed.

It took me 2 years in getting my paintings back. Signed and dated in the front and signed, dated and titled in the back. At the time I used to get photographic paper that was already printed from a local photo lab that will give them away to me for free. Then I would use ink to paint over the original image but in some cases I would leave some of it, to show in a few places. The process required a lot of thick ink layers and that made the paper to warp mostly around the borders.

In a few occasions I sent paintings to mount and frame and they ended up perfectly flat but I saw others that were framed with the painting floating and the warping brought reflections into the painting that I really liked. Hi, my name is Jose Tonito Rodriguez. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from Florida International University. Although I was educated as a photographer, my interest was leaning toward painting which is now my main focus.

I have an extensive curriculum of exhibitions and awards that you can review if you search my name. I created a unique process where I paint by hand directly into different types of blank photo papers, using water, color inks and some other unconventional household chemicals. Mixing them creates physical reactions that are instantly registered in the paper. The result is a painting with so much sharpness, tonal gradation, depth of field and flowing movement that resembles the work of Nature.

I don't use a camera, digital printer or any other form of reproduction. Each painting is one of a kind. My use of unusual materials and chemicals makes this process very complicated to explain and I find easier to relay on the viewer watching some of my videos.
