Dimensions: 48L X 21.5W X 34H; Top only 49L X 22.5W. This horizontal hive accepts 31 deep frames and features bee-friendly thick walls for durability and superior insulation. The body is cut from 2" x 12" southern pine lumber.

The tops are made of a lighter plywood so that you can check on your progress with ease. High legs mean convenient hive visits and no mice and possums to worry about. We also provide convenient inner top covers so that you can work in sections.

These hives are made thicker & more sturdy than most that you will find at other retailers! For the amount of wood product you are getting and the handcrafted detail, the price is really very fair. THE STANDARD HIVE OPTION INCLUDES BODY OF THE HIVE (STANDARD SOLID BOTTOM) ALONG WITH HIVE TOP (NO HINGES), INNER TOP COVERS, LANDING BOARDS AND LEGS (NOTE: LEGS WILL BE EITHER PLACED ON FRONT AND BACK OR ON THE ENDS DEPENDING ON WHICH OPTIONS HAVE BEEN CHOSEN). HIVE TOP HINGES, SCREEN BOTTOM, TRAY COMPARTMENT (FOR MITE CHECKING), FOLLOWER BOARD AND QUEEN EXCLUDER ARE ALL ADDITIONAL OPTIONS THAT NEED TO BE CHOSEN FROM THE DROP-DOWN MENU. Three coats of paint are recommended. Paint the outside of the hive only. I nstructions will be included. NOTE: We made several modifications to this particular design. You will also be able to just follow our labeling system written on the actual wood pieces when assembling but if you have questions, feel free to ask.
