5.9 grams of extremely rare Iron Mask turquoise. This is a very rare color for any turquoise. We have dubbed it pistachio green! What a joy to cut out of a rough nugget!

The family of an old miner contacted me about a 53 pound bucket. I bought it from his great grandchildren.

I knew it was from the Oro Grande area in New Mexico and I had it tested by Neil Ray, a leading scientist who uses X-ray fluorescent testing. He found it was from Iron Mask and old gold mine in the Oro Grande mining area. Iron Mask encompasses the old Laura mine as well as many other old gold claims. Not much turquoise ever came out of this area but the stuff that did was naturally hard, beautiful and an incredible variety of colors. A 13 page letter was written by Neil Ray and will accompany the sale of this cabochon. I couldn't help myself!
